Discovering unlimited possibility!

Posted on 08/10/2013 By Norm Morrison That’s Old School! Education is set to take on a profound new look and the change will be global in proportion. The early adopters will be in the third world and eventually the west will come around albeit with much kicking and screaming. The western educational model  served us well a hundred years ago. But it is not providing the learning that is now required. The protocols and methods are archaic. Rote memorization of data and facts are no longer useful and expensive text books cannot possibly keep up with current information and findings. Any information you could want is literally at your finger tips. Look at them Neuron’s FLY!! Creative idea are one of the worlds major resources but little is done in our school systems to nourish this resource. Our schools are built on a one size fits all concept and by it’s structure individual customization to most benefit each child cannot be accomplished. Courses are taught not because of need or desire but because somewhat at the top deemed them to be of value. When was the last time you used your high school algebra? At best it can be thought of a tool to develop some thinking skills but there are more effective ways to do that. The School of Tomorrow…..Seriously…tomorrow, not next week. The world is becoming more decentralized and so will education and this is the result of the internet. Learning will become more individualized and customized for each student and it will be delivered by personal computers and devices like smart phones. In being decentralized information will not be easily censored by autocratic governments and more immune to socioeconomic upheaval. Epistemo….. What!!?? Nicholas Negroponte, founder of MIT’s Media Lab and the organization One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) explains: Epistemologists from John Dewey to Paulo Freire to Seymour Papert agree that you learn through doing. This suggests that if you want more learning, you want more doing. Be Like Nike….Just Do IT! The current education model is not set up for “doing.” Putting software tools in front of students the world over that allow for exploring and expression as opposed to instruction will provide infinitely more opportunities for discovery and creation. This is what is required to move the whole world in abundance. What can your creative expression add to the world? It doesn’t have to be a big thing. You’ve got something to add that can make a difference. Share...

Posted on 08/12/2013 By Norm Morrison   Yea…I want the money. But more than the money I want a lifestyle of freedom. I want to eat in the best restaurants of Paris and Rome. I want cruise the Caribbean, drive a Land Rover across the Outback of Australia and zip line through the rainforest of Costa Rica.   It’s about having the freedom to do what I want when I want. It’s about working on my schedule, not the 9 to 5 schedule. And it’s about doing work that I enjoy. I want the freedom to be completely who I am and contribute to the world as I desire. I want to experience moving throughout the country and the world, knowing that my work can be done where ever I am with my computer and an internet connection. Yes…I want it all. And you know something? There is no reason I can’t have it. And so can you.  All that’s required is a willingness to commit to success in your life. Do you want to get money? Do you want freedom? Do you want to do work that you enjoy? And do it part time? Or full time. How big are your dreams? You just need to commit, be willing to learn and do what it takes to achieve your success. Posted on 08/14/2013 By Norm Morrison  My Friend Sandy This video blog was made by my new friend Sandy Leveque and the above title is from her blog. Sandy is lovely and charming young woman who lives in France and after meeting her recently at the Empower Network convention in Denver she charmed me also. After seeing this video that she created I asked Sandy if it would alright to share it with you and she said yes. Sandy shares herself in a very vulnerable way. Please continue reading…. What Sandy says in the above video blog I wholeheartedly agree with and could not have said as eloquently she has done. Life has conditioned us to certain points of view about ourselves. Particularly that we are in some way  wrong or not enough as individuals. Along with the feeling that we are not enough,  we often go into self beliefs that they are unworthy and unlovable. Often these self beliefs manifest into physical conditions. Are thoughts affect our bodies. In Sandy’s case she suffered debilitating migraines and nose bleeds.  Our beliefs and the thoughts that arise from them, limit us from being and doing the things in life that would make our lives more happy, fulfilling and expansive. The reality we create for ourselves is a function of what we believe is possible. If you are not in a relationship and desire one, but you have the belief that you will be alone for the rest of your life. You probably will be. However if you believe that “right” person will come along…they probably will. This however doesn’t just mean that you can sit back on your sofa and wait for him/her to knock on your front door. It’s your responsibility to put yourself out there in the world. You need to go to social functions where your potential mate might show up. You need to have the intention and expectation that you will meet this person….some time, some how. Belief + Intention + Commitment + Massive Action = Change and Success It takes action to change your life. It take actions to achieve your goals. It takes action to be successful in life.       Very often the massive action that is required is to push through your fears and doubts and do what is most difficult for you. And the more you do that “thing”, whatever it may be, the easier it becomes and the more comfortable you become with doing it. This is what Sandy did and I know it took a huge amount of courage for her to start blogging and putting herself out...

Posted on 08/15/2013 By Norm Morrison Health Care This is the third primary building block for abundance in the developing world. Number one and two are safe water and nutritious food. The principal tool for diagnosing a condition is the testing of body fluids, specifically blood, urine and sputum. Without this tool diagnosis is a shot in the dark. The problem with testing is manifold, it is: relatively expensive time consuming with treatment delays patients often have a difficult time getting to a medical facility   In remote villages where public transportation may only arrive once a week, the difficulty of travel, time delays and expense can make proper diagnosis and treatment a real burden for the some that may already bedridden. The technology of the Lab – on a – chip coupled with cell phone capability can allow the a blood test to be performed and the results sent to a doctor 50 or 1000 miles away in a matter of minutes. The proper pharmaceutical can be determined and sent to the patient within hours. There still may be a time lag before the patient receives the proper drug but at worst it would be measured in days, not weeks as it would take if the patient had to go to a medical center, have blood test taken and the sample sent away for analysis. In most cases the drug would arrive within 2 or 3 days. Hundreds of thousands of lives could be saved each year in the Third World with this technology. Many of them children. Time is of the essence sickness is at hand and this very portable and inexpensive device can save huge amounts of time in the treatments of many sicknesses.     Keep in mind when I say “inexpensive” that is a relative term. But this device when scaled into mass production will have a cost that will probably be comparable to a iPhone. One of the interesting things about deploying this technology in Africa is that most of the continent has a good cellular network. They have bypassed the now archaic land line infrastructure of the western world and went directly to the much less costly cellular system. Because of cellular and the associated wifi system the dark continent is poised for some very big break throughs in abundance and prosperity. Share...

Posted on 08/20/2013 By Norm Morrison A Vision for the Future Huh?   Hmmmmm How are you going to get to the future that you fantasize about so desperately if you don’t have a really clear vision of what your entire life will look like?   That’s the question I’ve been asking myself lately. I have business goals and visions for those goals achieving those goals will be like…but a vision for my whole life? It hadn’t really occurred to me. It’s not that I was unaware of the importance of have a vision for my life, it just didn’t dawn on me that I should actually develop one for myself. Of course the old saying comes to mind; how are you going to get to your destination if you don’t know where you are going? Excellent point…I get that We don’t want our future to happen to us by default. That is what happens for most people. Creating your future needs to start long before that forward mark in time that you consider to be the point of significance for you, that place where you want to arrive at. And it’s not just about saving up enough money. You make save millions of dollars but how is that money going to satisfy you if you don’t know what is it that makes your life worthwhile and make your heart sing? Your dreams must have perfect clarity. It’s about creating a life of joy and happiness were everyday is a holiday even if your working, because your work is not your job it’s your passion. And you also have the time and money to experience life in any way that you desire to and you live wherever and however you want.     But the question is…what exactly does that look like for you? What is YOUR Passion? It’s not a matter of just visualizing it in your mind, you have to feel, hear, smell and taste it. For example, tasting the salt in the air at your beach front home. It’s very important to get all the sensual details of your perfect life deeply imbedded in both your conscious and unconscious mind. Your mind needs all the details to create the picture of that life you really want to have in order for it to help you create it. You have to start with the visual process of what am I doing in my day to day life that gives you a reason to jump out of bed in the morning. What are the activities that you see yourself doing each day. Where do you want to live and...

Posted on 08/20/2013 By Norm Morrison What are we going to eat? Hopefully we will be eating foods that we produce ourselves or are produced very locally. By local I mean food produced in your garden, in your apartment or on top of your building. There are a lot of places that food can be grown. No, you can’t be self sufficient from food grown in your apartment or even in your back yard garden but you would be surprised at how much food technology will allow you to produce in a very small space. One of the tell tale signs of prosperity the world over is the consumption of meat. Most of the world does not eat animal flesh in the same way we do here in the west. It is a sign of abundance to your neighbors if you are able to buy meat to put on the table.   The problem with meat consumption is that it’s not sustainable in the long run given that within the decade there will be 9 billion mouths to feed. Beef production in particular is extremely inefficient. Grass fed beef takes up 100′s of thousands of acres that could be used for production of crops for human consumption.   Feedlot fed beef uses massive amounts of feed that could otherwise be fed to humans. The writing is on the wall for ranchers.  And it is sad that that will happen because ranching here in the western US and Canada is and has been historically a way of life for many people. Unfortunately the resources used for beef production plus the methane produced from the animals themselves cannot be sustained in an over populated world. Gray GOO? Seriously Dude? As I mentioned in the video blog part of this commentary, biologist have been working for quite sometime to produce in vitro meat. This started with NASA in looking for a way to provide astronauts with a protein source that was inline with their typical diets. Despite the fact this the name  gray goo is disgusting and the thought of eating flesh that didn’t come from a real animal puts a huge damper on my appetite, it may way be the “animal flesh” of the future. Biologist are doing amazing things and it may very well be possible to create and grow muscle tissue of various agricultural animals that are very much like what we now consume, perhaps identical. But Wait, There’s MORE! But what if…this in vitro animal flesh actually contained a type of fat that was good for your heart and body? Wouldn’t that be a game changer! And yes…it...

Posted on 08/22/2013 By Norm Morrison Vision me this Batman… It time to get down to “fun” and decide in a very detailed way what you want your life to look like. First of all you need to look at your short term goals. These are quantifiable, measurable goals that when complete say, “yea…I did it!” These are the things you want to achieve in the next 12 months. The Big Picture After the you’ve determined the short term goals you need to look at the bigger picture. What do you want your life to look like in the next 3-5 years? This one takes a bit more time to do but it is crucial to your success in life. This is were you put your order in to the Universe for the life you desire to experience. It encompasses your life in total from career or business to relationships and everything in between. So what’s in between? You need to consider the whole package. What relationships do you want to develop or have acquire? Are you looking for a romantic relationship? What qualities will that person have. Have you the desire to get out and socialize more and if so what would that look like to you? Where would you like to live? What part of the country or the world? And what type of dwelling would you like to live in? I want a Spanish Colonial house of about 3000 square feet…but that’s just me. Finances are in between This area may be tied to your work or business. How much money would you like to have as a monthly or yearly income? And how much would you like to have in the bank or invested in some type of assets? This is really about how much money sitting someplace would it take to make you feel financially secure and allow you to live the life you desire in complete FREEDOM. The days of, I’ll do it if I have the money…are gone. What you need to realize is that in this Life Visioning exercise you have to think without constraints as to what you may think is possible. Let your imagination run free and unbridled. This is an exercise about dreaming and there are no limitations on dreams. I Wanna Go Some Where! Excellent!  Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? What do you want to experience in your life? Do you want to travel first class and stay in 5 start hotels or do you want to get a bit more down and dirty and stay in the areas where...

Posted on 08/22/2013 By Norm Morrison Yep….Your Life Vision It’s time. You own it to yourself to have a vision for your life. Perhaps your satisfied with the way it currently is, but what if could be so much more? I understand the result of the visioning process could be a bit frightening. What if you end up wanting to make changes that would lead to a more fulfilling life… to more exciting life? Yes change can be scarey. It could disrupt your life or lead to changes you may not even anticipate. It takes courage to go for a life that is more than satisfactory. What or who do you owe that could be more important than being the greatest version of you? Is that really true? Or are you just complacent? Life is comfortable now. Maybe you think you’ve pretty much done all there is to do. If that is true it’s okay. You don’t have to do anything. I hope you’re not missing out on the best part of your life. Maybe telling your story or sharing your message with the world is part of your vision. You can also get money for doing it. Share...

Posted on 08/25/2013 By Norm Morrison This coming week (Aug 26) I’ll be starting a series on Creative Visualization. I’d like to invite you to go through this process with a us. This is my first serious visualization process and it’s very important for me. I no longer want to live my life by default and that is really what I’ve been doing the last few years. Life has been comfortable and I really didn’t feel the need or expend the effort to create a new and grander picture for my life. Although my life has changed dramatically in the past year I want something more and greater. There will also be more challenges but I want to look back and say that was a life well lived, I fought the good fight. Life may be comfortable….but comfortable is not a place you grow from. It’s a place you die from. Share...
